About College in the Bag, LLC ™

College in the Bag.com is the go-to source for straight talk and smart advice on the college admissions process. Its goal is to simplify, educate parents and high school students, of all academic levels, on finding a great, affordable college fit.

Claire Preston had a passion for the college admissions process since  she started her own search. A Cornell University graduate, who first went to her community college, Claire wanted the quintessential college experience; school spirit, academics, new people, and fun on a beautiful campus. The stipulation was she had to pay for it herself. While earning top grades at NCC and working part-time, Claire spent hours in the college transfer center studying school profiles that were kept in 3-ring binders. No Google searches back then.

After graduating Cornell, Preston worked on Wall Street before becoming a full-time mom and volunteer for various organizations including the Cornell alumni interview program. She has helped many students with their college applications, target lists, and essay writing, including many of her  39 nieces and nephews, and children, Geoff (Villanova ’13), and Haley (Elon ’15).
